Our Pear Tree

Free photo date checker

Does this photo still know when it was taken?

Check the date inside a photo before you import it, print it, or place it in a family timeline. The file never leaves your browser.

Your photo never leaves this device. Closing or refreshing the page clears it.

Why it matters

A real capture date keeps an old memory in its place.

When an old photo keeps its camera date, it can land where it belongs, not on the day it was copied or uploaded. Our Pear Tree uses the embedded date when you import photos with dates intact, then gives every memory the age it happened at.

Questions

About the photo date checker

Does this upload my photo?

No. The checker reads the file only in your browser. It does not upload, save, or send your photo or filename to Our Pear Tree or another service.

Why does a photo have no capture date?

Screenshots, scans, and photos saved from messaging or social apps often lose the original camera metadata. That does not mean the photo is bad. It just means the exact date needs to come from you or another copy.

Which date does the checker prefer?

It looks first for the original camera capture date, then other media creation dates. If those are missing, it labels a filename or file-modified-date result as a lower-confidence clue rather than presenting it as fact.
