Private by default
Family archives have no public profile or searchable feed. Access is checked against family roles, and share links are unlisted, revocable, and limited to the content selected by the family.
Security
A family archive should earn your trust.
We use layered access controls, encryption, scoped sharing, and export tools to protect the memories families place in Our Pear Tree.
Protected in transit and storage
Connections use HTTPS/TLS. Account records and media are stored with providers that encrypt data at rest, and uploaded files are checked before being accepted into an archive.
A separate private vault
Optional vault content is encrypted on the device with a secret the family controls. Properly vaulted content is excluded from normal search, thumbnails, and family share links.
Portability and control
Families can revoke links, manage member roles, export their archive, and request account or family deletion from the product.
What families should know
Anyone who receives a private link can pass it on until it expires or is revoked, so treat it like a private invitation. Original photo exports can include metadata saved by the camera; location fields are not displayed on the shared page by default. No online service can promise zero risk, and early access helps us find and fix issues before a wider release.
