Pixels decide how big a memory can get.
A print looks sharp when there are enough pixels behind every inch of paper. Three hundred per inch is the number print shops work to; around a hundred and fifty still looks right in a frame you view from a step away. If a photo falls short, look for the original before you settle — the copy that came back out of a chat app is often a fraction of the size the camera made. About the photo print size checker
Is my photo uploaded to check it?
No. The checker opens the file in this browser tab, reads its width and height, and lets it go. The photo itself is never uploaded, saved, or sent to Our Pear Tree or anyone else, and only its dimensions are ever looked at.
What do crisp, good, and soft mean?
Crisp means the photo lands at 300 PPI or better at that size, which is what print shops aim for. Good means at least 150 PPI: it looks right in a frame you view from arm’s length. Soft means the photo has to stretch further than that, and you will see it if you lean in.
Can I still print a size marked soft?
Usually, yes. Canvas prints, textured papers, and anything hung across a room forgive a lot, because nobody views a big print from six inches away. Soft is a note about close inspection, not a refusal — and it is worth checking whether a larger original of the photo exists first.
Where do the milestone print files come from?
