Propped and pleased
Build a low horseshoe of cushions on the floor, sit him in the middle with an adult kneeling behind and just out of frame, and photograph from the front at his eye level. Keep both hands of the spotter within reach and the camera lower than the head. The delight at being upright is the picture.
The high chair arrives

Food on the eyebrows
When mealtimes are messy, stand back a little and let the whole scene in — tray, hands, hair, the bit on the eyebrow. Shoot from just above the tray with the light coming from the window rather than the ceiling. Wipe the face afterwards, never before.
The spoon standoff
Hand over the spoon and photograph what happens: the grip, the wave, the wrong end. Keep the camera at tray height and let the parent's hand stay in frame. Two or three frames tell a story that one never does.
Half a year in the mirror
Hold her up in front of the hall mirror or a wardrobe door and photograph the reflection, so you get both the real face and the fascinated one. Stand slightly to the side so you are not squarely in the glass. Wipe the mirror first; it will save you an argument with yourself later.
Both hands on the bottle
